Hi all,
So we have been here for 5 days now. It’s been a bit longer than planned but the Brazilian Embassy made us wait for our visas to be processed. It hasn’t been all bad though.
First up we were able to catch up with Robyn’s sister Allison and her fiance Nick. This was unexpected as we were originally going to be still in Chile walking, but as we finished early this was possible. It was great, especially for Robyn who had not seen Allison for over 2 years while she had been in England doing what we will be. We were only able to fit in lunch (litterally, we had all we could eat) before they flew out, but it was worth it.

One of the main attractions in Buenos Aires is Evita’s Grave. Sounds a bit strange, but it really is. We went into the cemetery (also sounds a bit strange) which was a really interesting place. Its not like the cemeteries at home, its all concrete and all the graves try to out do each other. Evita’s grave was one of the smaller ones as she is buried in her family’s plot, not her husband’s. We also checked out the pink palace where she used to make her speeches.

Another thing we have been able to do was to visit the suburb of La Boca. This was a colourful place with it being an artist community. All the shop faces are painted in bright colours to stand out. It was a place filled with shops, markets and tango.

Another town we managed to visit was the small Tigre, just outside Buenos Aires. This was a town built on the Buenos Aires Delta. It reminded us a bit of the Mekong in Vietnam (probably as it is also a delta) but it was a lot more developed. We took an hour boat ride which gave us a good look at the intertwined rivers.

The last thing we did was check out a tango show (sorry, i forgot to pack the camera so i can’t show you). This went for just over an hour and included a 3 piece band, a singer and a dance pair. We sat there sipping drinks with the locals while the show went on. It was a great experience.
Tonight we get back on the bus and head for Montevideo, Uruguay. We are trying to make it for the Saturday afternoon market we have read about. It’s meant to be amazing. As per Adam’s advice I will make sure i let all the Uruguayans know they have a really poor football team (this might be my last post if I do).
That’s all for now. I will try to keep posting posts and pics so you guys all know what we are up to.
Oh yeah. My sister gave birth to her third child (second daughter) yesterday. Congratulations to the whole Vancam Family on the arrival of Penny. We both wish we were there to see her. Jay, if you are reading this. This is your cue. I expect a post from you with photo’s.
That’s really all for now. Till next time…
Glen and Robyn
