Hi everyone,
We hope you all had fantastic holidays. In case you were wondering, here’s what we got up to.
For Christmas, both of Robyn’s sisters were in the UK, so we all (including Nick, Allison’s Fiancée) spent Christmas in a cottage in the Lakes District. For both of us, this marked the first time either of us had been away for Christmas and while we missed everyone at home, we managed to have a great time. We did a few walks in the freezing weather, watched plenty of TV and ate way to much food. Here are a few photos for you.

Over New Years we went to Edinburgh for the Hogmanay Street Party, which normally draws well in to the 200,000 (people) mark. This year however, it was unfortunately cancelled due to poor weather. This didn’t effect us having a great time though. We partied in the New Year with a great bunch of Scots who we met through Drew’s flat mate.

This had my name written all over it from the start
During the days Prior to New Years, Robyn unfortunately had to come back to work, so I headed to Scotland early to do a bit of travelling with Drew. I managed to get to Sterling to see the Wallace monument, although it was so foggy we could barely see the top (100 feet). We also spent the night on one of the islands of the West coast (The Isle of Seal) which afforded us the time to relax in a Scottish pub playing darts. Of the other places we visited, Ben Nevis and Loch Ness were the highlights.

When Robyn arrived we quickly got on a train to Glasgow where we spent a day. Glasgow is much bigger than Edinburgh, and has its own charm. The buildings and parks are just as great but we can see why people always talk about Edinburgh (they do consistently have the best football team in the country though). While there, we were lucky enough to catch up with some locals that we met while in Brazil. It was really great being able to compare stories about places we had all been, while also getting some inside tips on places to see.

All in all we had a great time over the holiday period and its a shame we are already back working hard to do it all again. Once again, we hope you were lucky enough to enjoy your time off as much as we did.
Till next time,
Glen and Robyn
